Competex is looking for a superstar Practice Manager to join our team!

We are seeking a highly organised, professional and communicative individual, to oversee our client administration and onboarding process, provide excellent service to new and existing clients and oversee all office administrative duties.

You will be overseeing the entire office and client administration process and will be supervising a team of three part-time administration staff. You will also be overseeing the smooth running of the accounting and payroll teams, working with heads of department to meet performance targets on an ongoing basis.

The successful candidate will be innovative and willing to think big. He or she will continually be looking for new ways to transform company culture.

Key responsibilities
Practice management
  • Ensuring effective and efficient management of the practice, reviewing company procedures to improve efficiency
  • Ensuring compliance with MLR and ICAEW ethical guidelines
  • Ensuring that accounts and corporation tax returns are filed and statutory filing deadlines are met
  • Liaising with the personal tax department
  • Organising the production and distribution of relevant handouts to clients following legislative changes, including the Competex Handbook
  • Recruiting, training and managing staff across all departments
  • Managing payroll for staff, timesheets, holidays and absence across all departments
Client admin and onboarding
  • Overseeing company formations and administration
  • Overseeing client onboarding process
  • Working with the marketing team to ensure quality in all our communications with new and existing clients
  • Controlling client quarterly accounts data acquisition and processing
  • Liaising with clients, government agencies and other company departments
  • Keeping a timetable of events, deadlines and procedures
  • Overseeing credit control
  • Overseeing invoicing
  • Client records & data protection
  • Client insurances
  • Understanding how the payroll department is run and being able to help with processing payroll when cover is required
Answering the telephones
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Fielding and handling existing and new client enquiries
  • Training admin team to field and handle existing and new client enquiries
  • Keeping a tight reporting system
Office administration
  • Post in/out
  • IT, stationary, office equipment, fixed asset control
  • Office maintenance, cleanliness & utilities
  • Staff welfare
  • Handling routine HR and personnel issues

Candidate requirements
  • You should be ACCA qualified with a relevant level of experience as Client Manager or Senior Accountant.  You might not have been Practice Manager, but an aptitude for people management is a hugely important aspect of the role
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Warm, friendly and relaxed telephone manner
  • Extremely organised
  • Experienced with supervision and training

  • Tech-savvy. You will ideally have experience using any or all of the following: IRIS, FreeAgent, Xero, Accord
